Born and raised in Detroit, MI, JAN-NISE is an independent upcoming singer-songwriter with a wide-range of musical taste in R&B, Neo-Soul, Country, Pop, Punk-Rock, Indie-Rock, Hip Hop, etc. She grew up listening to classic Motown music but does not limited herself to any specific kind of music. She uses music as a form of healing to authentically capture the essence of who she is to share with the world. Self-expression is essential to someone like JAN-NISE, who grew up painfully shy. Yet, she emerges while breaking down barriers within herself by pushing herself out of her comfort zone. She served six years in the U.S. Air Force and later discovered many creative talents through her spiritual awakening in "2020." She has used painting, spoken-word poetry, and acting as an outlet to express herself and soon began to realize music is her real passion.
