Songwren is the creative project of an artist with a background in film production, scriptwriting, sound engineering, and podcasting, and more than twenty years as a practicing witch, both as a solitary practitioner and within two loose covens. That combination shapes everything in The Veil: A Witch’s Rock Opera, a story told in song about a witch who learns that the light and the dark inside her are the same. Conceived, directed, and engineered by the artist, with lyrics and music created in collaboration with AI tools, the opera draws on dark folk, pagan folk, and cinematic drama. The music moves between hushed, breathy verses and sweeping orchestral storms, with hearth fires, ritual circles, ancient trees, and we meet a black cat along the way. Named for the wren, small in size but fierce in voice, Songwren writes for anyone who has sat with their own shadow and found it kinder than expected. The Veil is the first chapter of a larger witchy world still to come. Blessed be!
