Nick Kuka grew up in the small farming community of Valier, Montana (population 400). He spent much of his childhood working on the family farm with his dad and grandpa, and much of his musical inspiration comes from his Montana roots. Nick went to Montana State University for 2 years while studying Music Technology and Music Education, before he moved to Anchorage, Alaska. In Anchorage, Nick finished his Bachelor's in Music Education, and got a Master of Arts in Teaching. Nick became a K-12 music teacher, and discovered that he loves teaching music to kids of all ages more than anything in the world, and views it more as a dream fulfilled than as a job. He now lives in Washburn, Wisconsin with his wife and son, where he is excited to begin sharing music he has been working on over his entire life journey.

I wrote this song while I was stuck on limited activity during a trip to my childhood home. Because of medical complications, I wasn’t allowed to fly from Montana back to Wisconsin. I ended up having to take the train back home. This song highlights the feelings I’ve had about leaving home after high school, and the implications it could have in the future now that I am a father myself. Hope you all enjoy it, and if you’re someone who’s moved farther away from home, know that you’re not alone! It’s a tough decision to forge your own path!more
