When I was in high school, I lost the ability to use my hands. I couldn't play piano or guitar anymore, I couldn't write, and sometimes I could barely hold a fork. I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease when I was 17. I lost sight of who I was. I wondered if I had anything left to give. I fell on my knees one day, asking what I had left. A comforting voice spoke to my mind, pulling me from the depths of despair, "I gave you a voice. Use it." From that I learned my worth doesn't come from my appearance or my accomplishments, and I can still give, even if it means giving differently. I fought with everything I had to get my health back so I could serve a mission for a year and a half. And now I'm back, ready to share what I've been given with anyone who chooses to listen.
