Tyler Whipkey (born September 22, 2002) is an American musician, singer, and songwriter. Whipkey had been asking for a guitar for quite some time because he wanted to play songs by his favorite band at the time Skillet . His parents finally gave in. Whipkey was given his first guitar by his parents for Christmas in 2012. They thought it would be just "a passing whim" (as his mother put it) but he continued playing and teaching himself how to play. He would teach himself with tabs he found on the internet. He also had a Skype guitar lesson with Seth Morrison from Skillet. Morrison helped Whipkey learn about different tunings and techniques on the guitar along with how to play some of their songs. Tyler's influences for his music are Skillet , Five Finger Death Punch, and Three Days Grace .
