VIDA's sound is inspired by sonic innovators such as Björk, Flying Lotus, Prince, and Sun Ra and the love funk of the universal orchestra - creating a unique sound of alien jazz that exists somewhere between neo-soul and experimental art-pop. With a background in dance, theatre, fine arts and ritual, VIDA brings an interdisciplinary approach to her songwriting and live performance. She performance as a fertiliser of collective joy and uses visionary science fiction to offer somatic rituals of queer love-in-action and radical kinship. VIDA is based in Tāmaki Makaurau, Aotearoa/New Zealand.
