SURREALITY: The most bizarre track I've ever released. Listen at your own risk! -- 🌀 -- Originally called "Stalemate", this track is certainly...different. Being only 2 minutes long, it's the shortest of all my tracks. It's also one of the very few soundscapes I've finished. I'm not used to making tracks with no kick drums so this is new territory for me. -- This track began on January 28, 2020, and I deliberately went for an uneasy, disturbing soundscape. It was based off of the growing uncertainty about the new coronavirus, back then known as "the strange pneumonia in Wuhan". I felt something bad on the horizon. Now it has turned into a pandemic, with millions of cases worldwide and hundreds of thousands of deaths, with the world's eyes glued to the alarming number of new case counts daily. -- The anxiety of the thought of "normal" life ending, and the normalisation of lockdowns, social distancing, and quarantine...that "scared" feeling is supposed to be here in musical form, as our worlds get flipped upside down and back-to-front before our transition into this "new normal". Hence the cover art and title. In a way, it was deliberately made to sound bad. -- My drive for experimentation of sound design, through intense automation of the flanger plugin on the master of this track, lead me to finish it in March 2020.
