Honey Badger Energy
Embrace your inner punk and bring some honey badger energy into 2025 with HUNNY BADJA, the punk-AF honey badger who's a threat to all forms of hate and is unashamedly her punk self regardless of what anyone thinks about that! -- • Listen on MOULE WORLD Music, check out its merch, and find links to other platforms: https://music.moule.world/honey-badger-energy • Bandcamp: https://moule.bandcamp.com/track/honey-badger-energy • Cover Art Timelapse: https://invidious.nerdvpn.de/watch?v=sLCl2M2DOEQ -- During the December 2024 holidays, I became interested in punk subcultures, in particular disability-themed ones like Stimpunks (stimpunks.org) and can strongly relate to their "do-it-yourself" fierce energy, especially as an autistic person. In particular, their page Punk is Autistic (stimpunks.org/2024/12/18/punk-is-autistic/) and the linked Autistic Culture podcast episode of the same name (open.spotify.com/episode/7f78Ye0d4cYy2tWEZKiL1H) started a mental domino chain leading me to finally declare war against the inner perfectionist, arbitrary patterns, and other monsters in my head, and start 2025 with a kick-ass punk metal DnB track. I'm calling this new attitude "honey badger energy", inspired by the reputation of honey badgers! -- On January 7th, I started making this track with some death metal melodies I copied and pasted from unfinished project files I made years ago, then built some fast-paced beats, and eventually slower-paced beats as you hear in the intro, followed by some synth leads I managed to make sound like electric guitars. I was inspired by FalKKonE's metal remix of Edvard Grieg's "In the Hall of the Mountain King (invidious.nerdvpn.de/watch?v=2gS9oAX1bnE) It was originally going to be exclusively punk rock, but it quickly became a drum and bass track as I took the fast-paced drum and bass beats from CTRL+ALT+DELGADO (music.moule.world/ctrl-alt-delgado). On January 9th, I spent the day working on it, mastering it, resulting in this track and relinquishing my love of making music and artwork after a long rut from late 2024. -- This track also marks a new way of me releasing music as part of my war against old patterns: as soon as I finished it, I immediately released it on my Faircamp and then my Bandcamp, then distributing out to other platforms like Apple Music, TIDAL etc. later, as I've found pre-save campaigns and scheduling music months in advance like DistroKid and indie music "gurus" were saying to do was holding back my creativity. Ever since I joined the Fediverse I've been caring less and less about pleasing algorithms and realise just how much it was holding back my creativity. Making and instantly releasing Honey Badger Energy is a refreshing change. As a bonus, it's also my 200th finished track! -- This track introduces a new MOULE WORLD character for the first time in one-and-a-half years: Honey (A.K.A. HUNNY BADJA)! She's a punk AF honey badger who's a threat to all forms of hate and is unashamedly her punk self regardless of what anyone thinks about that! According to HYPER HYENA on Mastodon (mastodon.moule.world/@HYPERHYENA/113770776412170722), Honey was the lead singer and electric guitarist for a band she was in, while our favourite all-caps hyena was the drummer! -- This cover art took six-and-a-half hours to make and was very straightforward and extremely enjoyable to do, I was smiling all throughout its creation, even while spending a lot of time on detailed parts like shadows. I believe my effort really paid off in the end as this is one of my most favourite cover artworks I've made in a while. The very fact HUNNY BADJA is flipping the bird is another literal and metaphorical pair of middle fingers to my inner perfectionist as it's my first cover art with deliberately rude hand gestures, which would've been unthinkable for me to include a few months ago. -- Embracing the punk movement encourages me to be fearlessly myself and I've never felt this liberated in years. In a year where the planet continues to be destroyed, fascism creeps back, basic decency and kindness is eroding, billionaires hoard all the wealth, and common sense becomes more uncommon, I hope this track encourages you to embrace your punk side just like HUNNY BADJA, and fight back against blatant fascism, systemic injustice, and destructive internalised beliefs. -- Let me know what you think on the Fediverse (mastodon.moule.world/@MOULE), and for more MOULE, visit https://MOULE.WORLD!more

2024 OVERWHELM
2024 OVERFLOW: Everything's spiralling out of control and it's all too overwhelming!! The 10th in the 202X Series, at 8000 BPM. 10 more to go! -- To hear 2024 OVERWHELM on other platforms like YouTube and Spotify, go to distrokid.com/hyperfollow/moule/2024-overwhelm and check out the rest of the 202X Series and its merch: distrokid.com/hyperfollow/moule202x -- 2024 OVERWHELM was created on November 15, 2023 and finished 8 days later, during another major musical rut. I didn't feel like making this, but for the sake of consistency with my other 202X releases where each year gets 2 tracks for both halves of the year, I pushed myself through and finished this track. -- As I felt uninspired making this, it was initially hard to put together, so I copied some extratone samples I made for my track Extratone Beauty Cream and 10000 OVERKILL and overlapped them to get the "full-on" sound characteristic of the 202X tracks. -- As per this track's title, it is unapologetically overwhelming, with numerous 8000 BPM blast beats with 4000, 2000, and 1000 BPM blast beats interspersed throughout, as the world's events are just too overwhelming for us and the overton window gets pushed off a cliff. -- I should note that the version I released to Spotify, Apple Music etc is a few seconds shorter to be 9 minutes and 58 seconds, as Apple Music treats tracks over 10 minutes like albums and significantly increases the price. It was intended to fade out seamlessly, but instead cuts off abruptly. Sorry about that! -- As with all my 202X Aesthetic cover artworks, I made using the Assembly app by Pixite on iPad. I started it by importing assets I designed for previous 202X cover artworks, seeing as they would be used again to depict similar events of the first half of this year. This saved me a lot of time and took me 7 hours to create; my previous 202X artwork 2024 OVERFLOW took 11 hours, but that was because I spent more time creating unique elements for it like the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse and the auroras. Symbolising our planet spiralling out of control, a giant spiral covers the artwork with the Earth in the centre, with greater than 1.5ºC global warming. -- Each track's cover artwork in the 202X series has a black-and-another-colour chaotic cartoon collage aesthetic I call the "202X aesthetic" and all include a word starting with "OVER" in their titles. Given the mass feeling of being overwhelmed by world events increasingly spiralling out of control, I eventually decided this track will be codenamed "OVERWHELM" and use grey to symbolise the bleakness and seriousness of current world events. -- You can hear the other 202X tracks here: distrokid.com/hyperfollow/moule202x -- Let me know what you think on the Fediverse at https://MASTODON.MOULE.WORLD/@MOULE (or copy and paste @[email protected] into your own instance's search bar), or visit https://MOULE.WORLD for all MOULE links!more

SNOW WAY - Upbeat DnB / happy hardcore music soundtracking Brook the frosty Alaskan Malamute as she shreds down Snow Way - her favourite snowy mountain resort! -- 🔊 Stream this on other sites: https://hyperfollow.com/moule/snow-way 👕 Snow Way Merch: https://www.redbubble.com/studio/promote/158428693 🎥 Snow Way Cover Art Timelapse: https://youtube.com/embed/hU--tXKWvVk -- Here's my latest track I finished called "Snow Way"! During a summer heatwave we've had here in Perth, Australia where temperatures reached as high as 43ºC (109.4ºF), I felt like making something winter-themed. It's also got a holiday cheer to it, so I've set the release date to be all the way on December 6th! -- This track began on December 27, 2021, immediately after I finished making Twosday (https://moule.bandcamp.com/track/twosday) as I really enjoyed this fast-paced style I've developed. It started as a remix of a popular song that I can't share yet because of copyright. Snow Way is a completely reworked version based off that remix made during the aforementioned heatwave on February 20, 2024, as I couldn't come up with a snowy-themed track idea in three new projects made from scratch. -- There were two main influences for this track: -- 1. @djomnimaga's track "Jingle Bells Before Halloween", which I highly recommend listening to and listening to the rest of his music if you love happy hardcore rave music: https://djomnimaga.bandcamp.com/album/single-jingle-bells-before-halloween-v20 -- 2. wasteofblood's track "Chroma Tundra / Frosty Highlands", commissioned for the Super Mario 64 B3313 Unabandoned ROM hack as a happier version of their music for the same level from their own Super Mario 64 mythos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uAk26M6gVRE (you can check out their Bandcamp here: https://wasteofblood.bandcamp.com ) -- For MOULE WORLD lore, Snow Way is the snowy mountain resort in which Brook, the frosty Alaskan malamute shown in its cover art, loves skiing (and as of recently, snowboarding) down! Snow Way is located by the Brooks Range in Alaska, where Brook was born and where she got her name! The Aurora Borealis always adds a magical charm to it! It's also where Arctic's cover art takes place: https://moule.bandcamp.com/track/arctic -- As for its cover artwork, it took me about 5 hours to design Brook alone starting with Æmber that I made for Æmberlance's cover artwork (https://moule.bandcamp.com/track/mberlance) and Brook that I made for Fediverse's cover artwork (https://moule.bandcamp.com/track/fediverse). -- It's also my first attempt at giving my characters more realistic noses and mouths as opposed to the spherical head designs I usually make. Here's a preview of Brook I posted my Mastodon server on February 16th: https://mastodon.moule.world/@MOULE/111936952440079964 -- The background were surprisingly easy by comparison. I thought it'd take me longer to design the aurora and mountains in the background than Brook. -- Let me know what you think on the Fediverse at https://MASTODON.MOULE.WORLD/@MOULE (or copy and paste @[email protected] into your own instance's search bar), and visit https://MOULE.WORLD for all MOULE links!more
