Xande is a percussionist, songwriter, and performer. He was born and raised in the Butantan neighborhood of São Paulo, Brazil during the Military Dictatorships of the 1960s-80s. Xande's deep concern for justice stems from exposure to social injustice and racial discrimination as a child. Lack of opportunity, inflation and an adventurous spirit led him to move to NYC in the early '90s. It was in New York that he developed his passion for creating music.
