“roots” was written based on my personal fear of allowing someone love me - while I'm still in the process of healing from deep-rooted, past hurt. It explores the desire (along with the fear) to be deeply known and seen through the lens of someone who admires you. Using the imagery of and a garden, the song is ultimately about vulnerability and the realisation that your depth doesn’t make you "too much" and your wounds do not make you "not enough". To embrace your depth is truly beautiful.more
