The song is about a world where money decides whose needs matter. A closed shop and a long wait for care show how this touches everyday life. Someone with the right connections can skip the queue. People accept this unfairness because they’re told it’s just how things work. Money and power began as tools, but now they seem to rule us. The warehouse worker shows how easily someone can pass pressure on to others. A little more pay and authority make him forget the riders in the rain. The song asks when we stopped seeing people as people. Its saddest thought is that kindness has come to seem naive. It reminds us that no one should have to earn the right to be treated with care.more
