This song explores a couple things. The first focuses on the challenges of a relationship that’s falling apart and the sense of futility in trying to make it work. The verses deal with the struggle and eventual realization that it’s time to move on. The chorus, on the other hand, shifts to a more personal reflection on how disagreements with others can sometimes feel like a win-or-lose situation. When people 'win' an argument, they might act as if they own the world, and when they 'lose,' they can become sulky or bitter.
