Looks Like Me
I was sitting in my back room during lockdown. The summer of "Covid" 2020 - remember? Jamming away on the guitar with my little girl Molly. Watching my littlest girl Valentina playing in the garden sparked some inspiration in me. 15 minutes later I had a couple of verses. A melody. With Molly riffing away with some harmonies. Inspired by Valentina. We had a "song".....! Fast forward to a few months back. I spoke to Rohan K Healy from Beardfire Recording & Rehearsal Studios and asked him if we could record it. Something a little different. Fun. We went for more of a 60s (my favourite genre of music) vibe in terms of its sound. (There's even a McCartney bass on the recording!) Happy to say thanks to the lads - we've ended up with something that I think is pretty cool. If you like it, please like it. If you don't - that's fine. I'm just busy doing something I enjoy. Filling up one of my "cups"..... ❤ 😎more

Once Upon A Time
Once Upon A Time So about 20 years ago I was "all in" on playing guitar and doing a few open mic thingymajigs. Music has always made me feel good. An outlet. A place to go to disconnect and destress. If you haven't found one of these places for yourself I'd suggest you look a little harder. In any case, about 20 years ago, I was doodling some words and chords onto a few pages. As you do. One of these doodles occurred one night when my little brother Lee came to stay with me. A sleepover. When he fell asleep I wrote a few words on a page and came up with a bit of a melody. And there it sat. For about 20 years. Until now. A few weeks ago I invited one of my (5!) favourite little humans Anna into the studio. To play some plinky plonky (aka piano) on a song I was recording. Suffice to say there were lots of smiles & happy faces on the day. Anyway - I then proceeded to set it up that the finished musical article appeared on Spotify in time for Anna's 18th birthday. October 17th. So there you have it. A song inspired by & for my little bro, sat in a virtual drawer for 20 years, finished off with the help of my amazing little Anna in time for Annas 18th revolution around the sun. Lightswitch
I was talking to someone recently about the need to make sure that you have a life worth living. To do the things that make you, you. It stems from the fact that I think we are all guilty of getting caught up in the busyness of life. Living on autopilot for want of a better word. For me - I've always tended to try and do the things that are meaningful. For example owning a gym allows me to work with people who are struggling and hopefully have a positive impact on their lives. The issue is that "work" can be quite consuming and has meant I haven't always left time and space for the things that I love or enjoy. As John Lennon once said "life is what happens while you are busy making other plans...". So following on from the conversation I had I decided to take the ready, fire aim approach and book in to record a few things I've been messing around with for years but have never finished. It's fair to say that this is WAY outside my comfort zone but I was once taught that this is where good things happen. Thanks a million to Rohan K Healy & Al at Beardfire Recording & Rehearsal Studios - Formerly Badlands for helping me to put this together. There might be some creative life left in this 43 year old "dog" yet.... - For Lucas Knowles ❤more
