"My God, Dinosaur" is a more personal song than some my others. The lyrics are a reflection on the fact that suffering from mental health issues can be a lifelong struggle, and that sometimes "getting better" does not mean that everything is smiles and roses. Sometimes it's enough to just replace the burning rage at yourself with a flatter apathy. Not perfect, but probably better.

Did you forget
That you’re alone?
Fear of the old soul
When did your blood
Last run cold?
When was it last on your arm?
You always found night
Easier than the day
Lurking at the back door
Trying to find a way in
All you did was manage to substitute
Self loathing for the comfort of apathy
My God, Dinosaur
Do you even know what it was for?
An existential war
That all around you
Seem to ignore
I once was told
I wear it like a coat
Dismissed at the time
I really miss its warmth
There is safety
Knowing it gets no worse
Who knew that getting better
Would feel so bad?
My God, Dinosaur
Do you even know what it was for?
An existential war
That all around you
Seem to ignore
My God, Dinosaur
Do you even know what it was for?
An existential war
That all around you
Seem to ignore
Still hiding
Underneath the stairs
Still hiding
Underneath the stairs
Still hiding
Underneath the stairs
Still
Hiding
Still hiding
Underneath the stairs
Still hiding
Underneath the stairs
Ah
Oh
My God, Dinosaur
Do you even know what it was for?
An existential war
That all around you
