Michael Scott is a writer, composer, theatre director and international producer.
He has been professionally writing music for theatre since 1984, and been commissioned twice by SIAMSA TIRE (Irish National Folk Theatre) to write and compose works for them.
In 2020, his album CAOINEADH/LAMENTATIONS has received a special Arts Council of Ireland award.
For the 150th anniversary of Yeats he composed a song cycle for Tenor and Soprano SONGS FROM THE SWANS AT COOLE which represented Ireland at the Expo Milan, and played at major regional venues in Ireland, north and south.
Currently writing a song cycle based on “Chamber Music” by James Joyce, he has also been funded by The Art Council to compose chamber operas based on PURGATORY (1998) and THE DREAMING OF THE BONES (2000)by W.B Yeats.
He received his theatre training in Europe. He was Theatre Director of Project Arts Centre, Program Director of Dublin Theatre Festival, Director of the Tivoli Theatre, and RHA Downstairs.
