Marq, born November 24, 1993, is an independent hip-hop artist currently making waves in his hometown, Philadelphia, PA. A skilled lyricist with a no-nonsense approach, Marq continues to distance himself from the mediocrity often found within the heavily populated space. Marq’s creative journey traces back to his childhood when he started off writing poetry. At fourteen, he was creating beats and released his first mixtape (88 Seasons) in 2016. Marq takes inspiration from several music genres including Soul, G-Funk, Hip-Hop, Alternative Rock, and Electronic. Artists who had an impact on his musical development include; Asap Rocky, Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Tyler the Creator, and Curren$y. Two of his recent tracks, “Soliloquy” (Sept. 2020) and “Smoove” (Feb. 2021), showcase Marq’s abilities as a polished wordsmith and natural storyteller.
