QuirkCat (Kiheki Neko) is a music group that creates their songs using music production tools, though the lyrics are original and written by them. Their debut album, Reborn, was released in 2024 and features 17 tracks. The members stay anonymous and appear in public wearing cat masks. The group members, who remain anonymous and wear papier-mâché cat heads in public, connected through a Japanese chat forum a decade ago and all suffer from hikikomori, a condition of extreme social withdrawal. Despite never meeting in person, they communicate via webcams and started seriously creating music about five years ago, culminating in their Power Metal album Reborn. Each member uses a pseudonym: Ayumi (pink cat head) for female vocals, Kotaro (dark blue cat head) for lyrics and instrumentals, Kato (green cat head) for male vocals, and K (black cat head) as the composer, lyricist, and producer.
