I REMAIN — UNQUELLED
On June 11, 2026, I underwent brain surgery to remove a meningioma. It was a major chapter in a life that had already held trauma, repeated head injuries, disability, and the loss of people I love and care about.
There have been times when simply getting through the day took more strength than anyone could see.
I Remain gives a voice to that experience—and to the many struggles people carry, often quietly. Grief, health issues, depression, mental health challenges, losing a job, the end of a relationship, financial hardship, or having to rebuild a life you never expected to lose. These experiences can change how we see ourselves and make the future feel uncertain.
This song is about finding a reason to continue, even when we are hurting. Sometimes strength means taking another step. Sometimes it means resting, asking for help, or admitting that we are struggling.
I am still recovering. I still face challenges. But I also have creativity, hope, and things I want to share with the world. Creating UNQUELLED after brain surgery has given me something meaningful to build—a way to express what I have lived through and connect with others through music and art.
To me, “I remain” means that what has happened to us does not erase our worth or our right to a future. We can carry grief, live with limitations, and still find moments of joy, connection, and possibility.
I’m sharing this with my friends and family so you can understand the heart behind the music. If you are facing something difficult, I hope this song helps you feel seen and reminds you that you deserve care and support, even when you don’t feel strong.
Changed. Challenged. Still here.
I remain.
