“Blackout In Slow Motion” — ReadeDuvel
( I hesitated for a long time before deciding to make this song public. )
Because this song comes from a deep personal experience, i was back then, a very young girl, one night, that changed something inside me, and left memories, I never asked for!
Writing these words, meant, going back to a moment, I would rather have forgotten, and thats why i putting feelings, into music, that were once, too painful, to say out loud!
But eventually, I realized that this song isn’t only mine.
It is for every woman, who has ever woken up, confused, frightened, ashamed, or questioning what happened to her.Â
For every woman, who felt her body was there, but somehow she wasn’t. For those who were unable to speak, unable to move, unable to stop what was happening. And for those, who carried the weight of it silently afterward.
“Blackout In Slow Motion” is about that terrifying feeling of slowly disappearing, while still being conscious enough, to know that something is terribly wrong. It is about the fragments, left behind the memories, the questions, the bruises, the silence, and the struggle to understand what someone else chose to do to you.
Most importantly, it is about taking your voice back.
The final words of the song are not whispered anymore:
“You drugged my drink. You crossed that line.”
I chose to say it out loud!
Not because the past can be changed, but because what happened, deserves to be named, and because the blame never belonged to the woman, who experienced it!
This song is my truth, but I hope it can also be a small voice, for women everywhere around the world, who know / knew, this feeling!
You are not alone!
You are not, what happened to you!
And you NEVER, deserved it!
Ps: Not only for us woman, but also for men & boys who can relate in this...more
