Chip Away (feat. Alexis Reeves)
The inspiration for this song is the story of Michelangelo making his most famous statue the David and how it relates to our relationship with God. The marble Michelangelo carved the David out of was in very bad shape because it had sat outside exposed to the weather for 26 years. In 1500, an inventory of the cathedral workshops described the piece as "a certain figure of marble called David, badly blocked out and supine." No one thought it was useable until Michelangelo gave his go at it. He freed his masterpiece from the stone, a stone that was essentially worthless, and it became the most famous statue in the entire world. In the same way, but way better, the Father takes us and crafts us into a new creation, a masterpiece for all the world to see! He chips away all of our sins and all the other things holding us down so that we can go into the world just like Ephesians 2:10 says "For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we. can do the good things he planned for us long ago."more
