Jay grew up in the Mediterranean, full of summers. A fusion of cultures, she has lived in many places, from heady Northern Cyprus to crisp Denmark. Exploring themes of belonging, place and love Jay writes each song as though it is a scene in a movie. Her songs tell the human moments of life and she is inspired by the songwriting of Maisie Peters, Taylor Swift and Dawes. Jay had her first radio play in 2018 when Bob Fischer played her on BBC Radio Tees. With repeated support from local radio, this spurred Jay to develop as an artist and challenge herself in her songwriting. She went on to have tracks played on BBC 6 Music, took part in Sage Gateshead Summer Studios 2020 and was awarded the Do It Differently Fund by Help Musicians in 2021. She is working on her second self-produced album out later this year called The Breakup Album. Jay wrote the album just before the 2nd wave of the pandemic after Jay realised that what she was feeling resembled a massive breakup.
