Yet every time I pass areas of plantation forest, I feel a sense of sadness. I find myself wondering what our forests would look like if we hadn’t altered and destroyed so much of them. What would they be like if wolves, lynx, and bears still had the space they once belonged to? Once the lyrics finally felt right, the next challenge was to find the sound. I wanted something electronic, dark and mysterious, but with a strong shuffle groove underneath — a contrast between the shadows of the forest and the energy of the beat. Easier said than done. After a long process of experimenting and refining, the song finally found its shape. And somehow, with every listen, I find myself falling a little more in love with it.
