I took notes 😏 it’s under 6min 🤣 This isn’t one of those “look at me, I made it” tracks… this is the version where u look in the mirror a little longer than u want to & still don’t look away. “Taking Control” sits right in that tension between who I was supposed to be & who I had to become. Football was the plan… full ride, full speed, no brakes… until the body tapped out before the mind ever would. Life doesn’t ask for permission though… it reroutes u. Next thing I know, I’m trading cleats for boots, noise for silence, stadium lights for something way heavier. This track lives in that aftershock. It’s that wired feeling u don’t shake. The engine that never idles. The part of u that doesn’t clock out just because life says u’re “home” now. There’s grit in it, yeah, but there’s also that edge… like something’s always just under the surface, waiting to kick the door in. But this one’s bigger than just me. There’s a moment where it flips.. where it’s not about what I went through, it’s about what I pass down. Watching my son step into his own lane… seeing that same fire… that same hunger… it hits different when u know exactly what that road can cost. That’s where the shift happens. Not running from the past. Not pretending it didn’t carve something into u. Just deciding it doesn’t get to decide the ending. Sonically, it’s built w/ internal rhythm first verses, then those choruses hit like everything you’ve been holding back finally snaps loose. Raspy, aggressive, but still carrying weight w/ controlled power.. like every word actually means something. End of the day, this track is simple in the most complicated way: U don’t always get to turn it off. But u can decide what it turns u into. And for me? This is where the line gets drawn.
