Singer and songwriter Tae Henry was born Deontae Henry, the youngest of 5 siblings on June 10th, 1994 on the south side of Chicago. Growing up, Deontae naturally took to music and singing whether it was in the church choir, or in the shower. He always knew that singing was his dream and something he had a passion for. As a child he was inspired by artistry and styles of R&B and Pop legends and icons Usher, Michael Jackson, Prince, and Luther Vandross and he also admires Chris Brown and Tank. “I use to be scared to sing in public”, he once said but he eventually broke free of that fear when he joined the church choir at the age of 8. “I use to want to sing lead and I always wanted be out in the spotlight. I’ve been singing in front of people ever since”. Deontae also has a passion for writing. His poetry writing skills have developed into his skills as a songwriter.
