This song comes from a realization that took me years to understand.
In a past relationship, I eventually realized something I couldn't see at the beginning. I had been chosen, but not in the way I believed.
At first, nothing seemed wrong. We laughed together, shared coffee, built memories, and moved forward through life. Everything worked. There was no betrayal, no major conflict, no lack of respect.
And that is exactly what made the realization so difficult.
Over time, I began to feel that I wasn't really the destination. I had become the comfortable choice. The simple choice. The acceptable choice. The reassuring choice. A choice that no longer needed to be questioned.
I don't believe this person was malicious. I don't even think they were fully aware of it. I simply believe that somewhere deep inside, there was still a silent expectation of something else. Another story. Another face.
In the song, our relationship is represented by a train station. We live there together. We fill it with memories, laughter, colors, and beautiful moments. We paint its walls with 50 shades of joy. Yet despite all of that, I eventually noticed something I could no longer ignore.
While we were building that station together, a part of her remained on the platform.
Waiting.
Not actively. Not intentionally.
Just waiting.
As if somewhere there was a train that never arrived.
And with time, I realized that train wasn't carrying me.
I also realized something about myself. Being in love with love itself, I kept admiring the colors we had painted together. But little by little, I no longer saw a living work of art. I saw a beautiful still life.
Beautiful.
Peaceful.
But motionless.
Sometimes the hardest relationships to leave are the ones where you are loved, respected, and treated well. Because everything seems good enough to stay.
But when you begin to feel that someone stayed not because you were their deepest choice, but because the other train never came, a question eventually appears.
Can you truly be happy knowing that the person you love is still looking somewhere else?
Elsewhere is about the moment you realize that love can be real, sincere, and yet still incomplete.
And that sometimes the hardest decision is not leaving someone who hurts you.
It's leaving someone who loves you while silently waiting for somebody else.

#VERSE
There are no trains at this station
I've been reading the timetable forever
Watching numbers change across the board
Like somehow things would get better
The air is cool and the seats are soft
Coffee and shelter from the weather
Baby, this place feels safe enough
But safe ain't the same as together
#PRE-CHORUS
Baby let me out
'Cause I think I finally figured it out
You're not waiting for a train with me
You're waiting for one without me
#CHORUS
You chose to travel with me
Among a crowd of one
The only "like" left by someone
And maybe you really loved me
When all the others had moved on
I don't think you meant to hurt me, ever
But love means less when you're the answer
To a question already gone
#VERSE
I loved the colors that you brought
Into the corners of my mind
A sketch became a portrait
As the years got lost in time
Every brushstroke gave it meaning
Every layer gave it life
But somewhere in the middle of forever
I became the only one still looking twice
#PRE-CHORUS
Now it hangs exactly where we left it
Not a crack and not a stain
Still beautiful from a distance
Still frozen in the frame
And maybe that's the hardest part
Nothing seems misplaced
Except the way a living painting
Slowly turned into a still life
#CHORUS
You chose to travel with me
Among a crowd of one
The only "like" left by someone
And maybe you really loved me
When all the others had moved on
I don't think you meant to hurt me, ever
But love means less when you're the answer
To a question already gone
#BRIDGE
This painting still looks beautiful
Hanging in the station light
I could spend forever staring
At the way the colors shine
But every time I turn around
You're looking down the line
For a train that never comes
And a face that isn't mine
#OUTRO
You chose to travel with me
Among a crowd of one
The only "like" left by someone
And maybe you really loved me
When all the others had moved on
I don't think you meant to hurt me, ever
But love means less when you're the answer
To a question already gone
