I think I finally understand Romy's song The River Away From You a lot better than I used to. Took me a while. Apparently, some lessons don't come with a fast-forward button. 🤷‍♂️ ㅤ So I asked her if I could borrow her lyrics and give them a Deepwater Version. Same words, different perspective. This time, through the eyes of a man who's lived that strange kind of burnout where you're slowly falling apart, but somehow finding your way back to yourself. ㅤ It's a gentle kind of burnout. Painful, sure, but strangely liberating. Sometimes drifting away isn't really about losing someone. It's about finally finding yourself. ㅤ Anyway, sorry Romy. I borrowed your river. 😅 ㅤ [VERSE] Morning found us getting older Your bare feet across the floor Sunday sunlight on your shoulder Your old jacket by the door Nothing happened worth remembering Still I remember everything We'd miss the ending of the movie Talking underneath our breath You'd steal the blanket, I'd complain Then pull you closer nonetheless No fireworks above the rooftops Just your head against my chest I can see that moment clearly Every shadow, every chair I can picture it so perfectly Though I have never once been there ㅤ [PRE-CHORUS] Some lives can feel like memories ㅤ [CHORUS] The river split beneath the moon My water slowly drifted away from you The river split beneath the moon I let the current carry me away from you ㅤ [CHORUS] The river split beneath the moon My water slowly drifted away from you The river split beneath the moon I let the current carry me away from youmore
