Language of the Heart "Betrapt bij het stelen" (Caught Stealing) is a refreshing, uptempo track proving that Nicart has also mastered the lighter genre of romantic, narrative pop. The song makes clever use of a classic metaphor—theft as love—and places it in a holiday setting that instantly evokes images of a carefree summer. It is an accessible, radio-friendly track that nonetheless retains Nicart’s signature depth by focusing on language barriers and human connection. The lyrics depict a relatable "holiday romance" scenario but add a poetic twist. Musically, the track reflects the sun-drenched setting of the lyrics with a Mediterranean energy. "Betrapt bij het stelen" serves as a crucial moment of respite on the album "Dodelijke nachtschaduw" (Deadly Nightshade). It reveals a different side of John Nicart: that of the charming storyteller who delights in life’s small, serendipitous miracles. The song captures the essence of a summer encounter where the feeling matters more than the language. It is a strong pop song demonstrating that the sun can shine brightly even within the "nightshade." Translated lyrics: On beautiful afternoons Should we work together For several days I stay in a hotel In this strange land The sun scorches bodies On the soft beach You see me lying there A well-deserved rest For the days full of work And years of labor I am listening to music In a good mood You come at me My eyes open And look for the voice That penetrates my ear But I don't understand her It's like she's singing You ask me something Halt you've been caught Caught in the act Caught stealing Stealing my heart I don't know Italian You don't speak Dutch English is useless For clarity French saves the day You invite me Halt you've been caught Caught in the act Caught stealing Stealing my heart You promise an evening Only in a lifetime Full of music and dance An end of the night With a new chance Full of gold and passion Halt you've been caught Caught in the act Caught stealing Stealing my heart Halt you've been caught Caught in the act Caught stealing Stealing my heart Caught stealing From my heart - Mastered by mixea.commore
