Eiffel created an internal steel skeleton that enabled the statue to withstand strong winds and structural movements. The Statue of Liberty was the inspiration for writing the text. We called it Caryatid because it is a decorative column in the form of a figure. Caryatids support the cornices against the ceiling collapsing. The song talks about her upholding Freedom and caring between heaven and earth. Lyrics : Statue de la liberté! You stand like A strong caryatid between Earth and sky You are armed With metal forever You are like A mother who protects us All the time You do everything To carry on Take our burden away Forever Keep the flame burning And never Let it go out Never Stay ready and don’t give up Never Keep the flame burning And never Let it go out Never You are one And only in the world A caryatid carrying the heaviest load Above you only the sky And under your feet Broken chains You keep the flame of freedom Alive Statue de la liberté! Take our burden away Forever Keep the flame burning And never Let it go out Never Stay ready and don’t give up Never Keep the flame burning And never Let it go out Nevermore
