I feel like I have been writing this song since my senior year of high school. Being the kid who always misses out on different big occasions, I bottle my 17-year-old self inside this song. From the production to vocal to lyrics, I want it to be lighthearted while intimate. I never got to experience prom the way you see it in a movie where it's almost too picture-perfect. So I imagined this character and how they would approach their high school crush by getting to know them and eventually ask them out for prom. But here's the twist, everything besides the last line from the chorus "let me ask first: do you wanna be my date" is all in their little fantasy.
