After experiencing one of those brief summer connections myself, I finally understood why they can stay with us for so long. Not because of what happened, but because of everything that never had the chance to happen.
That realization became the starting point for Weightless.
I wanted to write about a paradox that I think many people have experienced at least once in their lives: sometimes the stories that affect us the most are the ones that never truly become stories at all.
Weightless explores that strange emotional space between possibility and reality. That moment when you feel something rare with someone, something that seems almost impossible to ignore, yet life never gives it the opportunity to fully exist. No relationship, no breakup, no clear ending... just a possibility suspended in time.
The production was built around that feeling. Rather than relying on abrupt transitions or overwhelming intensity, I chose to let the arrangement expand gradually through layered textures, spacious harmonies and a dynamic progression that never completely resolves. I wanted the music itself to feel suspended, almost floating between anticipation and memory.
The title reflects the central idea. Gravity is what pulls things back to reality. It introduces imperfections, compromises and the everyday challenges that every real relationship eventually faces. The connection that inspired Weightless never reached that stage. It remained untouched by routine, disappointment or disillusionment. In a way, it stayed preserved exactly as it existed in the imagination.
Vocally, I wanted vulnerability rather than drama. The emotion comes less from explosive moments than from restraint, allowing longing, hope, nostalgia and uncertainty to coexist throughout the song. The arrangement leaves space for those emotions to breathe, giving listeners room to project their own experiences into the story.
At its core, Weightless is not a song about losing someone. It's about never truly having them and realizing that an unfinished story can sometimes leave a deeper mark than one that was fully lived. It's a tribute to missed connections, unanswered questions and the people who continue to occupy a place in our minds because reality never had the chance to prove us wrong.more
