I made a vow to the voice in the sky I'll hold up the flame and I won't let it die I'm carrying the weight 'til you're ready to learn Waiting for the day that it becomes your turn Years in the past I was caught in the cold A ghost in the wind, broken and ready to fold Somebody stood in the fire for me Paid down the debt so that I could be free So how could I leave you alone in the maze? I'm looking right into my own yesterdays But you've got to walk it, your feet on the ground I'm only the compass, I'm only the sound (yeah!) I'll draw a line in the shifting sand I guard your spirit but I firmly stand My open heart is in an open door To carry the chains that I carried before And when the sky opens and makes the plea When the watches step back and the fabric is free I'll lay it all down for the greater design I'll step in the dark so your spirit can shine To fall is to rise, to give is to live I'm emptying out everything I can give The seed hits the soil to grow in the sun Passing the crown when my chapter is done Shatter the glass of the divine mirror From one to the three it's finally clearer I see the greatness awake in your soul The very same fire that made me whole I kept my promise to the voice in the sky I gave you the light so it never will die Take the flame brother, let it all burn Step in the light because now it's your turn From the one to the three I protected you, now protect them for me The divine mirror.
