Call Him Voldemort
(PS - Follow me on IG, I'm never really on here!) The passion I felt when writing this song was greater than what I had experienced with any other song I’ve ever written. It was on some real “woman scorned” shit. While I generally like to keep the details of my personal life private, when I started writing music, that all kind of changed (whether I intended it to or not). Music for me has been a diary of sorts. All of the songs I write represent pieces of myself. Sometimes they take shape as phases of life, experiences I’m having, emotions, values, or whatever. So when I put a piece of music out into the world, it’s not just some contrived thing I want people to twerk to mindlessly (though no shade to those types of songs. We all need a good mindless twerk from time to time). These songs are actual diary passages into my life. So when someone listens to one of my songs, they are essentially examining a very personal part of my life experience. And this song is no different. During the time of writing this song, I felt used, angry, and frankly taken for a fool in a relationship that meant a hell of a lot to me. I later found out that some of my assumptions about foul-play were not accurate (lol ooooops), however, some were spot on. At the same time, I was trying to reduce the amount of cussing I was doing in general in my life at this time. Both of those things collided and I wound up saying “Fuck it. Fuck it all. I’m just going to freestyle whatever comes to my mind, without inhibitions, and let ‘er rip.” That was how Call Him Voldemort was birthed. Outside of that, the song really speaks for itself. No need to elaborate much further. more
