in the underbelly of the basilica
Closing track to my album "hindsight twentytwenty"
Dedicated to The Bronx, with much love.
The main organ chord progression was written in April 2020 during peak COVID-19 when I was working on medical floors of a hospital in the Bronx. This song, as a whole, is meant to be a deeply genuine and loving requiem for the Bronx as it is currently and as it was during peak COVID-19, when the people there faced hardships that are unimaginable to many. The clapping heard toward the end is actually a New York Times recording of the 7pm clap (Google '7pm clap' for more info on this). Finally, the track ends with 20 seconds of silence, which are meant to reflect on the lives lost during the pandemic.
Lyrics:
"so quiet you can hear the needle drop"
baby, cry ooooh hoo hoo
make me cry ooooh hoo hoo
baby cry ooooh hoo hoo "look forward"
maybe cry ooooh hoo hoo "look ahead"
baby, fly ooooh hoo hoo
make me cry ooooh hoo hoomore
