I started writing “Sweet” on December 17th, my first night back in New York for the holidays. I was welcomed home by a snowstorm and a bone-chilling temperature for which I knew no remedy other than a piano and a cup of tea. “Sweet” practically wrote itself that night. It had been months since I had written a song I was proud of, but it began to feel as though the writer’s block I experienced was simply this song waiting to be drawn out in its own time.
“Sweet” is about the envy for a past self- one who did not know love and existed unburdened by the weight of inescapable memories.
