When I was 6, I had this story that I wrote for a school assignment based on fictional writing. It was based on a dream and a vision - a motif that I had in mind that held significant emotional weight for me. I was walking down a train tunnel, there was a light at the end. I was holding the hand of another person; a faded anonymous and feminine character. There was a sense of anxiety and urgency, and as we approached the end, we could hear the train behind us, so we ran faster. As we were finally able to perceive what was beyond the light, we realised that there wasn’t anything really there. We quickly came to terms with it being an instant fall. We jumped off in what we hoped for safety, and fell for what felt like eternity. I can’t still to this day remember whether the story ended there, although I do remember my teacher praising the fact that I’d written such a story. The story became an integral narrative for me as I grew older, looked back, and started to try to undo the knots of how I felt and for what happened in the past. This is the story of The Descent. It is the climax of Breeze - my first LP - and is the climax of the Wombskin moniker. The song was released as a teaser of the full album on 23rd June. Breeze was released on the 7th July, 2024. more
