My uncle gave me a Casio keyboard, I learned to play simple one-note melodies.
Later, my Mom bought me a guitar from a pawn shop.
I remember walking to the library on Merrick Blvd in Queens, New York.
Going directly to the music section to learn about chords and explore sheet music for songs that were on the radio.
Didn’t have any money, came from a poor family but wanted to create music.
Interned at Power Play Studios in Long Island City, Queens when I was a teenager.
Cleaned toilets and mopped floors in exchange for being in a studio environment and hoping to learn more about music production.
Used a karaoke machine as my first multitrack recorder. Wrote songs, joined bands, wrote more songs.
Learned to build computers because I heard they could help facilitate recording and production.
Produced music for local artists.
Life happens.
Ultimately every venture led to this, Crossing ‘53.
