They say hindsight is 20/20, well I agree with that because when I look back it all fits together for me: what I have experienced, what I have learned, my visual mind, poetry, writing, storytelling, all of it can all go into a song, and this is extremely liberating. I can have an idea, sit down, and pour my heart, mind, and soul out onto a page each day, and never have to feel creatively blocked. A frustrating thing about painting was thinking that all of my creative ideas had to be painted, as painted and half-painted canvasses have stacked up around our home. When people talk about “writer’s block,” I can’t really relate because that hasn’t been my problem, it’s been more of a “life block” or “practicality block.” I have so many interests and so much to say, because life is fascinating, that I never run out of ideas. I once said to my brother around Halloween, “If Chuck can’t think of any ideas for Halloween this year, then have him come to me because I’ve got plenty of ideas!"
