Cody James Vermillion was born in a small California town to a truck driver father and video store clerk mother. Drawn to music at an early age, he and his siblings listened to whatever mom and dad put on the radio: Oldies, Motown, Classic Rock, Country, Soul... Eventually graduating to Grunge, Hard Rock, Alternative, and Hip Hop. Drawing from these influences, Cody began writing songs at age 15 after learning a few chords from a friend. Often trying to mimic the likes of Tom Petty, Nirvana, Dave Matthews, Johnny Cash, Social Distortion... Eventually he developed his own style: a quirky combination of folk, pop, alternative, and soul exploring real life experiences, including the pain of losing his father at a young age. After many years, twists, and a few turns, Cody released his first single: “Back In A Small Town” in 2024. The first of many. Cody lives in a quiet rural suburb of San Diego County with his wife, muse, and biggest fan, Jen along with their three young kids.
