March Feels
Written in March, Hence "March Feels". For some reasons, that is the month that seems to challenge me the most in terms of my emotions and self-preservation. I decided to put the lyrics and vocals first, and have the ambience accompanying them instead. It is the most authentic, but most importantly, most vulnerable I have been. I wrote down exactly how I have felt, as I peel back a layer of curtain and reveal a part of myself to the world, which is something that I did not know or understand how to do.more

figure out
"figure out" is my third single but my envisioned R&B style of music that expresses human nature and emotions. From the experimentation of the higher register of my voice, to the stripped down elements at the end of the song, I bottled up my desire, longing and also subtle frustration and ambiguity into this song as a form to portray the "experimentation" that I end up being in other people's lives. Growing up, I have been in encounters where the other person is struggling or confused with what they want in life, who they are attracted to, and their own sexuality, self-identity. Many occasions where I become a "phase" until they realize that, eventually or down the road, I am not the gender they are attracted to. For me, even though the pain is spoken through my words, at the end of the day, I would be fine in being a vehicle for them to figure themselves out. Hence the lingering sense of yearning and sensual aspect of the song. I am releasing “figure out” in two version: regular and stripped. This is the first time I experiment with this type of release. Stripped version specifically allows the audience to get into the layered vocal elements, which is extremely personal and intimate for me. Part of my passion for songwriting lies in background vocal arrangements and how they interact with the melody as a whole. The stripped version would be the best representation of it. more

PROM KING
I feel like I have been writing this song since my senior year of high school. Being the kid who always misses out on different big occasions, I bottle my 17-year-old self inside this song. From the production to vocal to lyrics, I want it to be lighthearted while intimate. I never got to experience prom the way you see it in a movie where it's almost too picture-perfect. So I imagined this character and how they would approach their high school crush by getting to know them and eventually ask them out for prom. But here's the twist, everything besides the last line from the chorus "let me ask first: do you wanna be my date" is all in their little fantasy. In another word, nothing happened, it's just the overloaded amount of thoughts and imagination that was going through their brain.more
