Born and raised in Brooklyn’s Brevoort Housing Projects, Payso Lamont learned at an early age that there was always more he could do. As the middle son and a product of a single mother household he witnessed first hand the struggles his mother went through to provide for him, his younger siblings and cousins. At the age of eleven Payso's household responsibilities increased to buying the groceries, along with picking up and watching the younger children in his household - oftentimes alone with them until his mother came home from work. These early experiences taught Payso the importance of money and what it meant to want for it.
As the middle child, Payso’s desire to help his mother hold down the household, prompted his involvement with the Brevoort basketball league by coaching the Brevoort Biddies (6-10yrs). He assisted in the local community center by providing a music program to help many of the kids in Brevoort channel their creativity, and unknowingly channeled his own.
