Jennifer Nicole Haymon, known professionally as Apollonia , is an American rapper and songwriter. Born and raised in Louisville KY, she started writing at the age of 9. She started out writing poetry and winning numerous poetry contests including district, and state wide competitions. Jennifer even made it to state finals. She began turning her poems into songs at the age of twelve when she found that hip hop spoke to her in a very personal way. She wrote lyrics for local aspiring artists through her teenage years and into her early 20's. Later into her early 20's she started to reach out to local talent about her dream to put her music out as an artist herself. Although she battled stage fright, she would not quit, she later took to the stage at a local night club after a bouncer she knew announced she'd be coming to the stage to perform a song. After that first plunge into performing in front of many people, Apollonia decided to move forward.
