20 years ago, I went to a hair stylist named Rocio. Kindest, most genuine person you would be fortunate to meet in your life. Lost touch after moving away from the area. Looked her up recently to find out she closed her salon a few years back. This song is about her. I was able to eventually get this song to her to listen too. Rocio (R.Intini) I can see your chair through the whitewashed window And there’s a lock upon the door All the smiles have left the room Because you don’t work there anymore You always told them what you were thinking While they were thinking of something to say You left them smiling with the stories you told But your smile was the gift they took away And though the years have slipped away For just a moment it’s back again today Rocio Your friends are at your door I hope the dreams you set to sea Wash up on your shore And when you laugh and smile, did you know You light up all the faces you know Rocio They sit in your chair and you spin them around Tell them a story while their hair falls to the ground You carry your smile everywhere you go The seeds you planted are beginning to grow And everyone who knows your name Leaves a little lighter than they came And though the years have slipped away For just a moment it’s back again today Rocio Your friends are at your door I hope the dreams you set to sea Wash up on your shore And when you laugh and smile, did you know You light up all the faces you know Rocio They sit in your chair and you spin them around Tell them a story while their hair falls to the ground Rocio When you close your eyes where do you go? Do you count all the faces you know? They lean in closer to each word you say But your smile is the gift they take away I still see your chair through the whitewashed window But there’s a lock upon the door You left with the smiles that fell around you Like the hair that fell on your floor And though the years have slipped away For just a moment it’s back again today Rocio Your friends are at your door I hope the dreams you set to sea Wash up on your shore When you laugh and smile, did you know You leave a little light wherever you go Rocio You leave a little light wherever you go You leave a little light wherever you go Rociomore
