First, a bit of background... in cycling, a domestique (servant) is someone who sacrifices themselves for the team. They are trailblazers and often ride at the front to set the pace and act as a wind barrier for the rest of the team to follow. A superdomestique is one who excels at this role. So for this track, my superdomestiques are three keyboard players who were trailblazers in their day... only one is still actively playing but in their time, they really were at the front and set the scene for electronic music that we all enjoy today. The piece "Superdomestique" is in three parts and I've tried to write each part in the style of the three musicians I dedicated this track to... I'm not sure how accurate I've been but it would be interesting to know your guesses.more

'Groupset' is my second album and is an instrumental suite made up of nine parts. It's a little bit electronic, a little bit guitar and a little bit weird (especially Part 4). The pieces were written and recorded so that each part merges with the next - in general, the end of one part overlaps with the start of the next part though some parts have a hard edit. I've written the approximate start times below in case you want to skip through it. The piece is intended to be listened to in one sitting and I encourage you to dim the lights and enjoy your favourite delight while doing so (a glass of red wine anyone?). This may not be your cup of tea but I hope that you can carve 36 minutes from your day and listen to this piece... you may hopefully find one or two tracks that just might catch your attention. This is track two of a nine part suite titled "Groupset" that I'll get around to uploading one day... I've cut it out of the suite and tidied up the beginning and end as each part merges into each other to make a continuous piece. There's a bit going on... it ebbs and flows and you really need to hear it as part of the whole but I think it's OK as a standalone track. Hope you enjoy listening to it.more
