Born in Aiea, Hawaii, in 1981, I was just a little Filipino and Taíno boy who didn't really get into music until junior high school. My brother bought a couple of turntables and a mixer, and I messed around with them until I started picking up gigs as a DJ at parties. That's when I began freestyle rapping over instrumentals and hip-hop beats. I didn't start writing my own lyrics and singing until my late 30s. I just didn't think anyone would listen. Eventually, I decided to bite the bullet and record my songs over the beats I created. My musical inspirations are Sublime, Rage Against the Machine, Mos Def, KRS-One, Kolohe Kai, HIRIE, and Maoli.
