The goal of all of his music is to “Make known the name, glory, and renown of Jesus Christ.” Born in 1981, in Lubbock Texas, Phillip Diaz’s musical roots took form in the vinyl record collection that his grandmother curated. “From Buddy Holly to Lionel Richie to George Strait, she loved music.” His grandparents moved to Indiana where Phillip became more engrossed music in the form of the famous “Walkman.” “I made mix tapes of everything and bought cassette singles of songs and would give out a mixtape or two to some close friends.” At the age of 13, Phillip Diaz had a profound experience that changed the course of his life. “ I was going to a small Christian school and we had a chapel service and it’s during this particular service that I gave my heart to the Lord.” At 14, he began taking guitar lessons and learning various musical styles and methods.
