one of 5 new versions being released later on this year this song was originally written in the 1990s and was written before I returned to my original school and it was written about my childhood experience at boarding school and also my own childhood. Into the mix was the theme of abandonment and being alone and being different. I don’t think people understand sometimes how difficult it is to be different and how being like others makes things easier. It seems strange to be a different colour and won’t be white like everybody else in order to be accepted. Of course this seems ridiculous now but back then I didn’t have the understanding that and so losing friends saying goodbye to many people was a constant line of abandonment with no way of really saying goodbye.
