A recognized and accomplished songwriter and bassist, Bruce Paul Allen was born and raised in Los Angeles. By age five, he shunned children’s music in favor of more contemporary sounds. He regularly found himself forming drum beats in his mind and told his friends that someday, he’ll be in a band. His early record collection included The Doors; Blood, Sweat & Tears; Beatles; CCR; The Guess Who; and Sly and the Family Stone. His grandparents’ neighbors were Herb Alpert and Neil Young. A graduate of Berklee College of Music, Allen established roots in Boston where he played in multiple local bands and recorded on several albums, including Torian and Winterboy. Music critics have characterized Allen’s playing as melodic, iconoclastic, and at times, idiosyncratic.
