This song is really about me stepping back and admitting that I was in awe of someone, but I knew deep down I wasn’t in the right place to love them the way they deserved. It’s me trying to hold space for how special it was while also being honest that if I stayed, I might ruin it. So as much as I didn’t want to let go, I had to. A little backstory for the song- I was on vacation and went on a double date with a girl who kept giving me mixed signals. She’d flirt and tease, making it clear she was into me, but never took it further or made it obvious with her actions. The whole time, I was caught between having fun and feeling frustrated because I genuinely liked her. This song is my way of saying that while the teasing was fun, I’m not just like any other guy—if we’re into each other, let’s stop playing games and see where it goes for real.
