I produce songs, under the artist name Phantoms Take Flight, that are mainly rooted in the music of the late 60's, 70's and 80's singer songwriter/soft rock tradition. The artist I admire most is Joni Mitchell, for her ability to combine meaningful lyrics with beautiful melodies and arrangements. Lyrics are important to me. I get most satisfaction from writing songs that have an engaging storyline, such as 'Nations And Empires' which was actually described in a local music review as 'a rock opera in a single song'! When I've got the lyrics and basic melody line fixed, I hand the song over to musicians who are a lot more talented than me to bring it to life. Then together we make the musical magic happen!
