Marcelo Requeijo is Steel Ropes, a solo rock and metal musician born in Montevideo, Uruguay.
I began my career as a bassist and composer in 1995. I founded my first band, Excalibur, which operated from 1996 to 2006 with three different lineups. In the following years, I dedicated myself to perfecting my skills on guitar, drums, keyboards, and vocals. In 2024, Arcángel was born as a solo artist, bringing the experience gained in previous years to the forefront. Now, in 2026, I'm starting my new project, Steel Ropes, exploring instrumental rock and metal as well as other musical genres, opening up a new horizon of sonic possibilities.

Mother
"Mother" is a song that was born and exists as a tribute to my mother, who passed away last year, 2025. As a way to express my grief at her passing and how much I miss her, I decided to compose a song that, through riffs, melodies, solos, and so on, would reflect my feelings for her. Thus, "Mother" was born, a song full of sweet melodies, powerful riffs, a melodic and strong solo, and a solid and compelling rhythm section. All of this together takes you on a journey through a sea of moods and atmospheres, sweet but also bitter feelings. In short, a song that speaks of the adventure of life, with its light and its shadows.more

On The Road Again
The song is about getting back on the road of life, after falling and getting back up. It's about starting over again and again, beyond the falls, because you can always get back on the road again.more

Rebelión en el Cielo
This song tells of the battle that took place in heaven, when the angel Lucifer revealed himself before God and faced Saint Michael the Archangel.
(If you want to read the lyrics of the song, you can find them on my Facebook in Spanish in photo format, so you can translate them more easily.)more
